The Seed of Growth

Posted by prajjwald on October 20, 2008

What was once

a hard brown shell

shiny and smooth,

small, but strong,

crumbles away

into the soil,

apparently lost,

except for a tiny flame

hiding within,

its deepest core

a seed that will grow

into a tree one day.

Blindness

Posted by prajjwald on October 18, 2008

Blindness

I see plants dancing in the wind,

while my friend

sees a plain green landscape

that is no different

from so many others.

Who is blind? I wonder:

is it he..

who does not see the plants dancing joyfully in the wind,

or me, who do not hear his thoughts,

flowing, but in a different land,

or is it the mind,

unaware

of a story told,

through every gesture,

throughout the moments,

if only it listened

carefully enough

If both people are blind, who is more so? Can that distinction even be made? How? What makes the distinction? (I do have an answer in mind that I choose to leave unwritten).

Does dieting really work? Does exercise really work? (Of course it does!)

Posted by prajjwald on October 2, 2008

But I for one, think a constant happy and energetic state of mind is even more effective:  I can burn my calories while doing anything I want, anytime!

(Pity I still have to work towards this goal a bit more it seems!)

Changing a Light Bulb

Posted by prajjwald on September 26, 2008

I saw, I liked, I posted:

(source: dharma the cat)
Q: How many Zen masters does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Two “ one to change the bulb, and one to not change the bulb.
Q: How many Taoists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: No takers. The idea that the bulb needs changing is merely a human mental formulation. It is not the Tao.
Q: How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: One, but the bulb must want to change.
Q: How many Jewish mothers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: (with mournful Yiddish accent) Don’t worry about me; I’ll just sit here in the -dark.
Q: How many lawyers does it take to change a light bulb?
Q A: How many can you afford?

The monks of shaolin

Posted by prajjwald on September 23, 2008

I really admire these guys!  The motion looks so flawless… so smooth and graceful.. and yet, I know they must be so deadly!  The intense training through which they go to actually achieve this level is another thing which awes me… I sometimes compare my own life with what they do… and thankfully, am satisfied enough with my own.. i have my own questions to answer and my own things to master, but these guys are truly awesome!
